Principles

We have several core beliefs that guide our work on a daily basis.
We believe every child should be educated in the best and most appropriate environment possible, where each child receives individualized services and where each child can succeed.
For us, this means everything we do is based on the needs of the individual child. In our programs, each child has an individualized plan that sets goals for his or her academic, social, emotional and behavioral progress.  Because each child works at his or her level of ability and because our programs are so individualized, our children are highly engaged and enjoy our programs.  The result: more progress, better confidence, higher self-esteem, and success.
We believe that parents and families should be treated with respect and honesty, and that parents play a key role in the development of children with special needs.
We encourage parents to participate in our programs so they see the progress their children are making and they learn to employ the same techniques at home.  Twice a year, parents participate in individualized plan meetings to help set the goals for their children and to review progress.  We also help families cope with the many emotional and practical challenges associated with having a child with special needs.  We especially pride ourselves on that you will always get a straight forward, honest opinion on what we think is best for your child.
We follow Best Practices and employ a Multi-Disciplinary approach in our work.
This is a fancy way of saying that our services are based on research and experience proven techniques that work.  We don’t subscribe to any single philosophical approach but combine techniques to create a more naturalistic style of working with children that allows us to respond to each child as an individual.  We have a complete team of professionals that contribute to each child’s program, giving us a complete, well rounded view of each child.
In order for our organization to remain viable and grow, we must maintain a sound financial footing.
Unlike special education services in many other countries, we don’t receive any government support – all our services are supported by fees-for-service.   In order to be fair to all families and their employers, we treat all families equally.  We maintain a large staff of professionals and specialists and try to pay them a fair and equitable wage.  Some families find our prices are high but without our fees we could not maintain our quality of service and remain in business. We also carry out non-profit or charitable activities for local Chinese families who have few resources upon with to draw.  When we carry out these activities, we are careful to segregate these funds and maintain transparency for these activities.
