SEC supports several non-profit, charitable initiatives to benefit the local Chinese community. We welcome your support, resources, and time. Our non-profit goals include: |

Promoting public awareness that Chinese children with special needs can benefit from programs and service. |
||
Developing and offering model programs and services to Chinese families and children with special needs, especially those with autism spectrum disorder. |
||
Training Chinese professionals on best practices for working with children that have special needs. |
||
| In 2008, we plan to offer several programs: | ||
Early Intervention program for Chinese children with autism spectrum disorder to demonstrate that early intervention techniques from the West can be adapted for Chinese families and children. |

Parent training and support for Chinese families with special needs children. |
||
Training for and collaboration with Chinese special education staff. |

| Giving | ||
To support our efforts, we have established the Shanghai Special Education Consulting Fund through Give2Asia. Given2Asia is a U.S. 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, and Canada 149(1)(f) public foundation, founded by the Asia Foundation to promote charitable giving to Asia. Give2Asia offers donors a wide range of philanthropic services, allowing them to recommend specific organization for funding, and providing expert research and advice on special giving opportunities in a given country or field of interest. All Give2Asia grants are administered by its parent organization, The Asia Foundation, which maintains seventeen offices throughout Asia and has been a professional grant maker since 1954.
